Courageous and Kind and Fun

When Chrissie first started working at the Record Office, she seemed so quiet - but that impression didn't last long!  From her lovely flowery hats to her love for her dogs, she was such a fun person to work with.  She was never afraid to speak her mind and one of my favourite memories of her is when she walked out of staff meeting because she disagreed so strongly with what was being said.  I think most of us wanted to cheer her that day for having the courage to say what she felt.  Because she was also so kind, helpful and a really hard worker, she got away with saying things the rest of us never could.    She was always the person I went to when I needed help with something - she'd help without making you feel stupid for not knowing.  When she retired there wasn't the usual endless discussion about what to do to celebrate her work with us - she came to me and told me exactly what she wanted, where and when!  So that's what we did and it was a great night too.   There are so many things to say about Chris  that I could go on and on - how she learned to drive, how she worked so hard to get her mobility back after she dislocated her shoulders, how she made such brilliant cards at Christmas but they all boil down to the fact that she was just great.  I'll miss her a lot. xxx
