Chris and I were accidental friends! We were colleagues at St Luke's when I and my partner were planning our civil partnership in 2006. I didn't know Chris very well and wasn't planning on inviting her. However she boldly declared that it was a public ceremony and anyone could come along which she wanted to do! Of course there was no other response except to invite her to the celebrations afterwards. From then on we became friends as well as colleagues. After her retirement she continued to research at St Luke's and we would go to the pub over the road most Wednesday lunchtimes. I think it became a fixture in both our routines and we would check every week unless one of us couldn't make it. When I semi-retired early last year we made plans to meet up and go for walks and bus trips but unfortunately these didn't happen. I feel like a little light has gone out. I will never forget Chris [or Chrissie H as I used to think of her!]
